Systems Thinking & Stakeholder Engagement @ Master Sustainable Development and Climate Change University of Pisa

Over the past two weeks, I had the pleasure of delivering two lectures in the Master in Sviluppo Sostenibile e Cambiamento Climatico Sustainable Development and Climate Change at the Università di Pisa.

Our module focused on #Sustainability #Reporting — a topic that is not only increasingly technical, but absolutely strategic for every organisation.

Sustainability reporting is more than compliance. It is a process of transparency, accountability, and conscious growth.

Integrating #ESG into corporate #strategy is no longer optional — it is a defining factor for #competitiveness and #resilience.

During the sessions, we explored:

* Systems thinking and SDGs interconnectedness through Doughnut Economics and more.

*The terminology and frameworks that often create confusion…

* Stakeholder mapping and engagement – the role of dialogue

* Double materiality, impact and risk assessment, and strategic prioritisation.

All these elements are essential for understanding business risks, opportunities, and long-term direction. Sustainability reporting is not simply a document — it’s a cultural shift that touches every part of the organisation #interdisciplinary #teams.

The question is:

Have you already started? Don’t wait for European directives to force your hand.

Transformation is not a burden — it’s your competitive advantage.

In a rapidly changing world, you either evolve, or you disappear and #changemanagement and #Training is key.
